Publication Ethics

Pakistan Journal of History and Civilization is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of ethical behavior in scholarly publishing. The journal adheres to internationally recognized guidelines, including those of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), to ensure integrity, transparency, and fairness throughout the publication process.

Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality: Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been published elsewhere or under consideration by another journal.

  • Accurate Reporting: Research must be reported honestly, without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation.

  • Proper Attribution: All sources and contributions must be appropriately cited. Authors must avoid plagiarism and acknowledge any funding sources or conflicts of interest.

  • Authorship: All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the work and agree to its submission and publication.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and not share information without permission.

  • Impartiality: Reviews should be objective, constructive, and free from personal bias.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves if impartiality is compromised.

Responsibilities of Editors

  • Fair Evaluation: Editors will make publication decisions based on the manuscript’s academic merit and relevance.

  • Confidentiality: Editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer reports.

  • Ethical Oversight: Editors will investigate any ethical concerns or allegations of misconduct and take appropriate action.

Handling Misconduct

The journal takes allegations of misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, and unethical research practices, very seriously. Suspected cases will be investigated thoroughly, and appropriate measures, such as correction, retraction, or notification to institutions, will be taken in line with COPE guidelines.

Pakistan Journal of History and Civilization promotes open access to its content to support the free exchange of knowledge and uphold transparency in research dissemination.
